Activities for Individuals

Had a fun session and want to develop your skills further in an activity, then take a specialised one day course with us.  We have a range of courses, some of which provide qualifications and others which are based at extending your experience and skills, providing the necessary experience for taking your interest further.

If you are a group of adults, such as Stag and Hen or birthday parties looking for a different type of weekend away, we offer different Multi-activity breaks which can customised to your requirements.

 

Canoeing for Improvers (BCU 3 Star)

Canoeing for Improvers (BCU 3 Star)

This is one of the more advanced Canoeing courses, which allows individuals with sufficient expertise, to gain the BCU 3 Star standards for Canoeing. The course provides one day on the River Dart and a second day on the River Exe, including the estuary waters.  This provides a range of experience on different types of waters, from still waters, rapids, weirs as well as tidal waters.  As the course is run in the winter, all participants will need experience on a variety of waters to succesfully complete the course assessment.

 

2 Day course £129.00 per person (course tuition only, accommodation and meals extra)

These courses are for groups of 6 or more people and be run at any time.

A 2-day course suitable for those with previous paddlings skills equivalent to BCU 2 Star Course as well as paddling experience of suitable standard on range of different water conditions.

The rivers used will vary depending on river conditions and the experience of the participants. A safe session extending your skills will be our priority. Several of our instructors are have advanced coaching certificates and spend their spare time exploring different white water rivers in south-west England, north Wales, and various countries around the world.

Accommodation is available at an extra cost for those who want to stay overnight.

Outdoor First Aid Courses

ITC Outdoor First Aid course 26th - 27th April 2014 - £144 per person (including VAT)

The Outdoor First Aid course concentrates on issues involved with the longer term care of casualties in remote environments. It is often referred to as a Wilderness First Aid course or a Remote First Aid course.

Covering practical skills needed by those working in Remote, Wilderness and Mountain & Outdoor situations, this course provides the confidence and knowledge to deal with comprehensive life-saving first aid emergencies in the outdoor environment. It is recognised by most Outdoor National Governing Bodies Instructor Awards including Canoeing and Kayaking (BCU) and Mountaineering and Rock Climbing (MLTUK), as well as being of interest to Forestry Workers, Environmentalists and those undertaking Field Studies, to mention a few.  A lot more emphasis is placed on incident management, monitoring casualties and relaying information to Rescue teams. We assume minimal equipment (similar to what is already on your back) and provide plenty of practical scenarios.

The price includes: course registration, a first aid manual and certification.

Kayaking Courses for Beginners (BCU 1 star) (3)

 

This course is for people who want to try out kayaking and canoeing and gain a qualification.  It's the first course on a series of courses designed by BCU, as an introduction to paddlesports and we run some course suitable for families and others for individuals to gain skills in a safe and fun way!

1 day course

This course has 1 full day getting started in using a kayak and canoe focussing on developing confidence  in a fun way.  In this time you learn how to launch a canoe or kayak, how to paddle and steer as well as turning, dealing with capsizing and securing the vessel safety. 

Accommodation is available at an extra cost for those who want to stay overnight.

1 Day course £60 per person (course only, accommodation extra) Min of 6 people

Dartmoor Walking Holidays

Planning a Dartmoor Walking Holiday?

We can help you planning a round trip walking holiday over Dartmoor.  Why not stay at Adventure Okehampton for one or two nights, then walk over the northern moors to Postbridge and onto Princetown, returning back to Okehampton. 

We can help with the selection of routes, providing route cards and interesting points to visit on your walk. We will provide either self-catering accommodation, half board or full board (with packed lunch for two or three nights).  Accommodation can be booked at YHA Bellever near Postbridge and Fox Tor Bunkhouse (Princetown), with final night at Okehampton.

Places to visit along the way could include: Grey Wethers Stone Circle, Memorial Stone to Ted Hughes, Yes Tor, Cranmere Pool and many notable Tours.
