Residential Group Activity Programmes

Adventure Okehampton have been running Residential Group Activity Holidays for over 19 years in Devon. Situated on the edge of Dartmoor, we offer a wide range of activities with different learning outcomes, as shown by our Quality Badge from Council of Learning outside the Classroom, so whether this is a formal educational trip or a fun residential experience, a programme can be designed to meet your budget and learning requirements.  We are registered with AALA and Adventuremark as an outdoor activity centre, so all our programmes have been approved.

Okehampton, Bracken Tor & The Filter House

Your programme can be designed to meet your budget and learning requirements.

We use 4 different full day adventure activity programmes in order to develop each schools individual package.  These can be used in different combinations in order to develop a residential stay programme which typically varies from 2 days to 4 days, where the schools arrive around lunchtime and depart at lunchtime.

Meldon Day

A visit to Meldon Quarry, using the Granite Way cycle trail.  Each participant cycles out to the Quarry, along the traffic free tarmaced cycle trail.  On arrival the participants will be spilt into groups for their activity day, rotating through various adventures such as Gorge Scrambling, Rock Climbing or Orienteering.  At the end of the afternoon they cycle back along the track to the Activity Centre.

Watersports Day

A visit to Adventure Okehampton's lakes, a short distance west of Okehampton.  On arrival the participants will be spilt into groups, rotating through various adventures such as Canoeing, Kayaking, and Raft Building.  At the end of the afternoon they are transported back to the Activity Centre.

Bracken Tor Day

A visit to Bracken Tor activity centre.  Each participant walks to the centre (if resident at the Goods Shed), for their day of adventures.  On arrival the participants will be spilt into groups, rotating through various adventures such as High Ropes, Bushcraft, Mountain Boarding, Archery or Orienteering.  At the end of the afternoon they walk back to the Activity Centre.

Goods Shed Day

A visit to Bracken Tor activity centre.  Each participant walks to the centre (if resident at Bracken Tor), for their day of adventures.  On arrival the participants will be spilt into groups, typically rotating through various adventures such as Low Ropes, Team Games, Climbing Wall, Archery or Orienteering.  At the end of the afternoon they walk back to the Activity Centre (if resident at Bracken Tor).

The half day sessions on arrival and departure days will usually be chosen from Weaselling, Team Building, Orienteering or Archery.

NB: we reserve the right to substitute an alternative activity in the event of unsuitable weather conditions.
