Start to develop your Bushcraft skills ready to go wilderness walking; we learn to light fires and build small shelters. Eating marshmallows round the campfire is a great way to end a fun session. Bushcraft is a very popular activity at the moment and is available for groups and family activity programmes.

At Bracken Tor if it’s wet, we meet at our traditional roundhouse made from Hazel branches and thatched using traditional techniques, similar to Bronze Age roundhouses. We also have a campfire area at YHA Okehampton, so for groups this activity is offered at both venues.

For groups private sessions can be run at any time of year.

For a longer experience

Check out our Moorland Expedition for groups on Dartmoor, where we walk out onto Dartmoor, camp overnight (either shelter building or in tents), and we discover how to use natural navigation techniques, look at the stars, hear the skylarks and enjoy the wilderness.
