Okehampton is about 25 minutes drive from Exeter along the A30. It is easy to access from the A30 by leaving the main trunk road at the junction for Okehampton and then following the brown signs to Okehampton Station and Youth Hostel through the town. By Rail
Okehampton Station has reopened, with a regular hourly service to Exeter St Davids. These trains connect to London Paddington and London Waterloo, as well as mainline routes to Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sheffield, Newcastle, Portsmouth and Southampton. Locally there are trains serving Barnstaple, Crediton, Exmouth, Paignton, Plymouth, Torbay, Torquay and stations in Cornwall.

By Bus
There are regular buses from Okehampton town centre to Exeter St Davids. A new rail link bus service 118 allows onward travel from Okehampton to Tavistock. There are also other less well frequented routes to Bude, Barnstaple, Crediton, Hatherleigh and Chagford. The bus to Okehampton Town centre costs £1 and the bus to Tavistock costs £3.
There are also some weekly services to Chagford, Moretonhampstead and other Dartmoor towns.

Detailed Road Directions
From the East
Leave the A30 at Okehampton (B3260) junction, and turn right at the end of the slip road. Follow this road for a further 2 miles into Okehampton town centre. In the town centre, you will pass over straight over two sets of traffic lights. In the town centre, pass a set of traffic lights (Pelican Crossing) and at the next set of traffic lights turn left, following the signs to Okehampton Station and Youth Hostel. About 200m, take the 3rd turning right up Station Road, and after about 400m turn left at the monument following signs to the Station. Follow this road, passing under the railway bridge* and take the first left to enter the Youth Hostel, where the car park is behind The Goods Shed.
*NB low bridge, not suitable for all coaches or high vehicles. Drop-off point at Railway Station. Coach parking in town at Mill Road Car Park.
From the West
Leave the A30 at Okehampton (B3260) junction, and follow road for about 2 miles into the town. At the first set of traffic lights, on a crossroads junction, turn right following the signs to Okehampton Station and Youth Hostel. Using a GPS navigation system
Do not use the Bracken Tor post-code in a GPS navigation system, as many of the systems will try and take you off the emergency access road to the A30.
From the East

By bus
There are regular busa (5 and 6) from Okehampton to Exeter St Davids from the town centre. A new rail link 118 service allows onward travel from Okehampton to Tavistock, with last bus from 18.00. There are also other less well frequented routes to Bude, Barnstaple, Crediton, Hatherleigh and Chagford.

Nearest Airports
The closest main airport is Exeter which is mainly scheduled flights with Flybe and charter flights to tourist resorts in Europe. Bristol Airport is about 1.5 hours drive and has scheduled flights with the budget airlines such as Ryanair, Easyjet, Flybe as well as being served by bigger airlines like KLM, Lufthansa, Air France, Aer Lingus, Brussels Airlines and Continental Airways, meaning that it is an alternative city for arriving in UK from Europe, USA and further afield.
