What is it?
The RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) is a fully funded residential course for 16-18 year olds, which aims to provide young people with the opportunity to grow and develop through challenge. The course is 5 days long and will be delivered by Rotary Club’s partner, Adventure Okehampton and the course takes place at their dedicated Adventure Activity Centre in Devon. The accommodation is a YHA partner Youth Hostel. The course will combine adventurous, outdoor activities such as climbing, kayaking and mountain biking with team challenges and a mini expedition. Each day the day starts leadership talks and skills sessions will be led by local Rotarians and friends of Rotary.
The Rotary Club is one of the world’s largest charities and their volunteers globally work together to tackle diseases, disasters as well as working towards local causes. Youth engagement and skills development has always been a core interest of the Rotary Club and this is where RYLA stems from.
All food, accommodation and activities are provided for the 5 day course.
Nothing! The Rotary Club will full fund the course, however some clubs may ask for a small deposit which will be returned on completion of the RYLA course.
If you like being outside, challenging yourself and meeting new people then this is absolutely for you.
